I am a Professor of Linguistics in the Institute of Linguistic Studies at the Ilia State University, Georgia.

Research
For me research is an opportunity to produce new knowledge and to deepen linguistic understanding of the world. In a broad sense it involves an analysis of language form, language meaning, and language in context.
There are a lot of questions that any of us can ask about linguistics, but for me the main focus of linguistic research is to support empirical investigations aiming at sharing methodological approaches to qualitative and quantitative analysis.

In 10 years of teaching different courses at the higher education level in Georgia, I have experimented with different assignments, activities, readings and comments approaches to commenting on student work. And the main problem was always associated with the lack of scientific literature in Georgian.
So, the teaching part of my website includes not only the description of courses that I taught, but also syllabi and materials that can be of use.

The study of language has been hugely influenced by computer technology. It makes possible to conduct electronic searches that are sophisticated, reliable and fast.
There are a lot of tools, which can be used for the linguistic annotation of different levels. The main focus of this web-site lays on the resources used for the agglutinating languages with rich concatenative morphology like Georgian.
